It's just about how you feel.
Do you feel like yourself in your clothes?
Have you ever found yourself wearing something just because others thought it was “right”? Or have you been in a group of people where a certain style of clothing was trendy and you conformed under pressure from your peers, even though you didn’t like it at all?
I’ve struggled with this my whole life. I felt like I had to wear what was considered “normal” at the time to fit in. I thought that if I didn’t fit in, I would be weird and people would judge me or laugh at me. And now, with the benefit of hindsight, when I look back, I see how many things I did just to fit in—and it’s crazy.
This is me and my evolution of my style. Please don’t laugh at me.
My first realization that the world could see me based on what I was wearing came in Senegal. I was about 13 years old when I first saw people there wearing old, torn clothes. Of course I felt sorry for them because their economic situation wasn't very good. At that time, I had one thing in mind - the more colorful things I wore, the better. I'm a bit hazy about that period, mainly because every photo of me looking like a freshly painted neon sign ended up in the deleted folder. Anyway, here's a little sample. (2014-2016)

Here you can see one of the original styles that I took from my surroundings, I'm ashamed of it, don't worry about it for now. (2019)

When I stopped enjoying flannels, I switched to something, how to say it... More colorful! (2020)

After a few crazy years, I got a prescription and started throwing jizz all over myself. Mainly because I was ashamed of my gynecomastia, which I will write an article about soon. Here is a screen from the gallery, believe me, this tragedy happened not so long ago. (2021)

After relentless years of searching, I finally started wearing baggy clothes and found at least a piece of myself and my future style. (2022)

Trust me, you look much better when you wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident than when you dress according to the dictates of trends. Clothes that you wear just because they are popular right now, but you don’t really like them, will never make you shine as much as when you wear something that really fits you and makes you feel yourself.
What can you take from this?
Fashion is great because it is so diverse. It gives you the freedom to do things your way, combine different pieces, come up with new outfits and experiment with style. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is one thing: wear what you feel good and comfortable in.
Your clothes should be a reflection of yourself, not a tool to conform to other people’s expectations. So forget about the pressure from others and wear what makes you happy and makes you feel great.
